On my way to a 5K: Weeks four and five
The first time I ran outside during my training was very difficult. It almost doesn't even compare to running on a treadmill. So now I run through a hilly part of downtown Kansas City called Quality Hill (and let me tell you, it's a first-class hill—very steep). Then I make my way toward Bartle Hall (this name probably rings a bell for all of you CVC Central faithful out there), and eventually I wind my way back home. I'm not sure how far I go, but the whole trip takes me about 30 minutes. Of course, I'm not yet at the point where I'm running for the full 30 minutes. I've enjoyed my early-morning runs outside. The city is quiet and just starting to wake up for the day. There are other folks out too, doing what I'm doing, or walking their dogs. There's even one lady I pass by twice every day on my route, going in the opposite direction as me. I should probably stop and introduce myself at some point. Anyone who's attending CVC Central in September need a running partner? I'm your gal. Just try to keep up.
