Authors of the review reached these findings by analyzing scientific literature, Web sites, and their own personal experiences working with medical professionals.
While technology doesn't replace human interaction, the bottom line is that it's increasingly difficult to be competent without technology. The review points out that e-mail communication with patients, automated reminders, and specialized Web sites can help doctors do more in the smaller amount of time allotted for patient care.
