The Veterinary Hospital in Eugene, Ore., sets daily production goals. When the hospital achieves the daily goal five times,
they hire a massage therapist to come into the hospital and give everyone a professional pat on the back.
"Everyone signs up for a half-hour massage during the workday," says Practice Manager Andria Saxon, CVT. "The staff loves
it."
Recently, their approach came in useful in an unusual way: "We scheduled a working interview for a technician the day the
massage therapist was in," Saxon says. "A problem came up that I had to discuss with the technician staff. I didn't want to
raise the issue in front of our interviewee—and there was a break in the massage schedule—so I offered her the massage. She
loved it and decided to join our team!"
