Over the past 12 years, the percentage of practitioners that actively recommends pet insurance has done nothing but climb. And in the same study, conducted by DVM Newsmagazine, 76 percent of practitioners said they would like to see pet owners use pet health insurance more.

Still, only 1 percent to 2 percent of pet owners take advantage of insurance.
